We saw problems with Firefox 3 and Acrobat Reader 8 not playing well together at the start of the semester, but upgrading Acrobat to v9 seemed to solve the problem. “Seemed” because we’ve been hearing reports from others schools about continuing problems with Firefox 3/Acrobat 9. There’s now a tracker report that runs down the issues (including the inability to “unforce” a download once you’ve done so in Moodle … and Moodle apparently reverting to the unforced state on its own):

A frequent request we’ve had from faculty is to be able to publish and unpublish (or show and hide) resources at a certain time. Blackboard Basic could do it, and the fact that Moodle can’t does cause a fair amount of grumbling. There’s a Tracker ticket open asking for exactly this kind of functionality to be added to Moodle; we voted for it, you should to!
Update: The tracker report has changed:

Wow … I haven’t posted to Learning the World since August. How time flies … and how painful it is to be locked out of your blog because EduBlog’s multiple resets of the password (which finally seems to have taken… but we’ll see).
In any case, the semester is now under full steam, and most of my Moodle-related fixes are taken care of, the new library site is live, and I’ve got some room (and time) to breathe before diving into my next series of projects, which include:
- Experimenting with using Drupal to power web-based workflows.
- Continued behind-the-scenes development of the Library web site.
- The launch of a new shibboleth-powered Moodle for faculty collaboration.
- iTunes U/Moodle integration
- WordPress Mu setup and testing
- WYSIWYG editor testing in Drupal, MediaWiki and WordPress
