Gradebook improvements in Moodle 1.9.5

Moodle Core’s announced a number of big changes to the Moodle gradebook for the 1.9.5 release. Among the changes:

  • the student name column is now sticky (which means you can still see if if you scroll to the right to look at additional assignments).
  • The categories page has been re-organized and color coded to make things easier to understand.
  • Administrators can now reduce the number of grade aggregation methods.
  • The Gradebook’s drop-down navigation menu can now be supplemented by tabbed navigation.

There’s a lot of stuff in there. We’re going to be delving into it on a test server just as soon as the code is released to CVS; I’m looking forward to seeing how our usability tests run with this new Gradebook.

Hello world!

Published by Kenneth Newquist under Uncategorized

Some how it always begins with “hello world”, doesn’t it? Welcome to my outpost on EduBlog. It’s a humble little blog and its primary reason for existence is to serve as a sandbox for me to evaluate WordPress MU for possible use at Lafayette College.

It may evolve beyond that over time, as I find myself greatly enjoying this implementation of WordPress, and it could be useful for me to have an education-oriented blog out there.

Ugliest Site on the Internet Beats Yahoo

Published by James under Uncategorized

Yep, that's right, MySpace topped Yahoo in page views in November 2006 according to comScore Media Metrix (which admittedly, I hadn't heard of until this article, but I don't keep up with web ratings that much). Yahoo blames their second place finish on the adoption of Ajax, which reduced the number of page views on their site.
